The 17th installation ceremony of the Interact Club of Rockvale Academy was held on 22nd May , 2024 from 1.30 pm in their school hall. It was a ceremonious occasion in which the Chief Guest was Capt Prakash Mani Pradhan, principal Rockvale Academy, the Guest of Honour was Rtn Mahendra Agarwal , President Rotary Club of Kalimpong and the Special Guest was Rtn. Vikash Golyan ( Assistant Governor – Zone 10 & 11 ) RI District 3240 and New Generation Director Rtn. CA Sumit Jindal.
The other guests present were the President Elect of RC Kalimpong, Rtn Sheila Rai Fudong along with other Rotarians and the Interactors and Faculty Counsellors of the Interact Clubs of St. Augustine’s School, Dr Graham’s Homes , Saptashri Gyan Peeth
and Vrindavan School .
The programme began with a welcome address by the MC for the day Amonika Bhutia . The dignitaries and incoming President Intr Tshering Lama and incoming Secretary Itr. Lakpa D Tamang were escorted by the SAA Intr Yogya Giri to the dais.
Felicitations were done. The Faculty Counsellor of the Interact Club of RVA, Ms Priya Thapa and Mr. Lawrence Subba were also offered a Rotary khada.
The Sec. Intr Lakpa D Tamang and Treasurer Intr Bidya Sharma then proceeded to give their detailed annual reports. Next, the President of RC Kalimpong installed the new Interact President Intr Tshering Lama who then gave her acceptance speech and also announced the members of her Board of Directors.
Lapel pins were given to the 90 new Interactors after which the New Gen Director Rtn CA Sumit Jindal administered the oath.
This was followed by the Guest of Hon, Rtn Mahendra Agarwal , Presd RC Kalimpong’s, speech.
One of the points he mentioned was that the Interactors should wear their lapel pins with pride and live up to the motto of ‘Service above Self.’ They should also maintain punctuality, decorum and discipline.
His speech was followed by the speech of the New Gen Director Rtn. Sumit Jindal who announced to the house that for the first time in the Hills a District Interact Conference will be held on the 29th and 30th of June , 2024 to be hosted by the Interact Club of Rockvale Academy .
Then the Chief Guest, Capt Prakash Pradhan, Principal Rockvale Academy, gave a motivational speech where he cited numerous examples to the Interactors explaining how discipline and consistency were key in being successful.
He talked about PASSION and PAGALPAN to do something big .
Finally the Assistant Governor, Rtn. Vikash Golyan touched upon the point that the District Interact Representative should be from Kalimpong and urged Interactors to apply for the post . He also motivated the students to take part in the District Interact Conference in large number and that students from seven states are expected to participate.
The newly installed President Tshering Lama adjourned the programme for group photo , tea and snacks.
