24/9/24 Assessments for the NBAs (Nation Builder Awards) had to be postponed twice because of unavoidable circumstances so it was with a huge sigh of relief that we finally conducted the assessments successfully in Judhabir HS School, Ambiok HS School and Ambiok Pry School. Of course we have still more schools to visit. RILM (Rotary India Literacy Mission) is working diligently and relentlessly to make each and every Indian literate. The thrust is on adult illiterates, street children, children born in red light areas, railway areas etc. Of course, in our hills we don’t have such children. But what Rotary wants to also do is to validate the unsung teacheroes. And who has a big role in awarding them? Their very own students.
The assessments are done in utmost confidentiality. Ten students from each schoo allot marks on a scae of 1 to 10 only to the teachers who teach them. Marks are given for punctuality, eagerness to answer queries, whether classes are interesting, guidance in extra curricular activities etc .
