The Rotary Club of Kalimpong presented 15 sets of desks and benches which can be used by a total of 45 students to Upper Ladam High School on 26/3/25. The school is located quite some distance from Kalimpong town in a peaceful rural belt. The school’s Headmaster Sir Francis Gurung, the staff and students welcomed the representatives of RC Kalimpong viz President Rtn Sheila Rai Fudong, past President Rtn Sharda Mukhia, the President Elect Rtn Col AK Gogoi and the President Elect Nominee Rtn Pravin with khadas. The handing over of the desks and benches took place in a meaningful ceremony. These were a gift to the school from the patron of Rotary Club of Kalimpong, Rtn Dr Khem Pradhan Fatimi who lives in the United States but whose heart is in Kalimpong. Upper Ladam High School’s first batch of students have appeared for the Madhyamik Examinations this year. The Rotarians who have visited the school today and also on a previous occasion are very impressed by the dedication and passion of the teachers here. The Rotary Club of Kalimpong hopes to provide even more support to this fledgling school in the future. As Rotarians, we believe in changing lives, we believe in breaking the generational cycle of poverty and hunger. We strive to do good in the world .
