Report on Agro-Vet Camp held on 8th Oct 23 at ARD Pedong

An Agro-Vet Camp was organized on 8th Oct 23 at Animal Resource Development (ARD) Department Pedong, in association with ARD Department Kalimpong and Animal Shelter Kalimpong, under the overall coordination of Director Community Services Rtn Col AK Gogoi. Dr. Jigmee Rinchen Bhutia BLDO Pedong, offered all help required for the successful conduct of the camp. Besides making available the Animal Resource Department of Pedong, he galvanized various Self-Help Groups (SHG) of Pedong to participate in the Camp. 50 members of SHGs attended the Agro-Vet Camp. Dr. Pema Choden, Dr Kriti Gurung Dr. Zara Kaku Soreng of ARD Pedong also attended the Camp. The Operation Theatre of ADR Pedong was used by Rtn Dr. DP Pandey for conduct of ABC Operations.
While Rtn Dr. DP Pandey was busy with the Anti Birth Control operations and Anti Rabies Vaccinations, PPs Pravakar Dewan, Sharda Mukhia, IPP Summit Jindal and PE Sheila Rai Fudong spoke about Rotary and its activities under different wings of the club. PP Rtn Sanjogita Subba spoke in great length about women empowerment. Rtn Dr. Devendra Pradhan Deputy Director ARD Department Kalimpong District highlighted various schemes of WB Government for the SHGs and how they can benefit from them. He urged all those present to take maximum advantage of the Government Schemes and offered them the help of his office whenever needed. Dr. Deepak Sharma and Dr. Brihat Chhetri from ARD Kalimpong spoke about Poultry Farming and Animal diseases respectively. Unlike other Camps, this camp was attended by 15 Rotarians and their families. Rtn Dr. Devendra Pradhan distributed vitamins, minerals, liver supplements, appetizers & anti-diarrheal medicines to those present. Dhania, Raddish & Spinach seeds were also distributed to the beneficiaries. Rtn Dr. DP Pandey was able to conduct 20 ABC operations on dogs and two cats. Overall, it was a very well attended and successful camp. A report on the Camp was covered by Himalayan Darpan the very next day i.e., on 9th Oct 23.
The total cost of conduct of the Camp was Rs 4400/- (Rupees four thousand and four hundred only).
