Rotary District Governor Rtn Dr. KushanavaPabi’s Official visit to Rotary Club of Kalimpong.
Rotarian Dr. Kushanava Pabi, District Governor(DG) RI District 3240, accompanied by his wife Rotarian Jaya Pabi visited Rotary Club of Kalimpongas part of his annual Official Club Visit, on 9th April 2023. The annual visit of the District Governor to a Rotary Club generates much excitement to all Rotarians as it is also the appraisal of Club’s performance.
Dr. Kushanava Pabi, on his arrival at Kalimpong on 8th Apr was received by the President of Rotary Club of Kalimpong Rotarian (Rtn) CA Sumit Jindal and a few other Rotarians at Mayfair Himalayan Spa & Resort. After his initial engagements of presiding over the District Level 3 Literacy Seminar at the Rotary Centre, his official visit commenced with the Board Room briefing, during which he was shown all the documents, records and audit reports of the Club. The DG was highly impressed by the meticulous maintenance of records by the Club and congratulated the President Rtn CA Sumit Jindalexpressing that “ I have to helplessly give 100% marks to Rotary Club of Kalimpong.
Later in the day he had a one-to-one discussion with all the Directors and Chairmen of the Rotary Board of Directors at the special Club Assembly.
The highlight of his visit was the special meeting held in his honour at the Kanchenjunga Hall of Mayfair Himalayan Spa & Resort. This special meeting was attended by Rotarians, their wives, and children.
During the meeting, the prestigious Vocational Excellence Awards were given out to Smt MadhuChhetri who has been carrying tiffins of the school children from their home to Dr. Graham’s Homes for the last 40 years and Shri Rajen Gurung who has been working single handedly for keeping alive the Nepali folk dances by teaching these dances to the children free of cost, for their selfless service to the community.
Mr. Karan Pradhan, who was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Deepsahana Pradhan, was ceremoniously inducted as a new member to the Rotary Club of Kalimpong.
The senior Rotarians, who had completed 25years or more of service in Rotary Kalimpong were also felicitated during the meeting.
DG Dr. Kushanava Pabi, in his message to the club emphasized that after eradication of Polio from the earth, the next priority of Rotary is eradication of illiteracy from the world. He urged all members to participate whole heartedly in this noble cause.
He highly appreciated the work done by the Rotary Club of Kalimpong in its services to the society and community and complimented President Rtn CA Sumit Jindal for the excellent work done. The DG was seen off from his hotel by President Rtn CA Sumit Jindal and his wife Ann Suruchi and other Rtns on 10th morning.
