REPORT ON VOCATIONAL SERVICE WORKSHOP
1. Rotary Club of Kalimpong held a Vocational Service Workshop at Lower Ecchey on 26Sept’23. The event was organised with the assistance of RCC, Lower Ecchey, Kalimpong Horticulture Society, Sadhu Sunder Singh Rotary Skill Development Centre, DISHA Kalimpong and Teachers Craft Training Centre, Kalimpong.
2. The workshop encompassed aspects related to the following :
(a). Modern techniques of organic farming.
(b). Bee keeping and Fishery.
(c). Dairy and Poultry.
(d). Alternative means of farming due to loss of cash crops.
(e). Tackling Monkey and Peacock menace.
(f). Facilities offered by Vocational Skill Development Centre.
3. The workshop was attended by the farmers and RCC members of Lower Ecchey. Talks were given by Director, Vocational Service, President, Kalimpong Horticulture Society, Chair, Environment Mission, Team Leader of World Bank Projects, Resource persons from SS Singh & Rotary Skill Development Centre and Teacher’s Craft Training Centre ( Chitra Bhanu ).
4. Multifarious problems related to the farming community were discussed. Consequent to discussions, RCC, Lower Ecchey will recommend a common viable project which will be executed with the help of the participating organisations.
